Baarah Member of Parliament Ibrahim Shujau has stated that the outcome of the recent elections reflects the level of public trust in President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

Speaking on MMTV, MP Shujau said the results and voter turnout demonstrate confidence in the President’s leadership, while alleging that some opposition parties are attempting to misrepresent the outcome to mislead the public.

He said the decision to hold a referendum itself reflects the Administration’s willingness to seek public opinion, noting that previous administrations had not taken similar steps on major policy matters. MP Shujau also criticised past governments for making key decisions, including changes to legislation and State assets, without adequate public consultation.

MP Shujau further stated that the results indicate that people have confidence in the President’s leadership and responsiveness, adding that voters believe their views are reflected in decision-making.

Commenting on the election outcome, he noted that while the ruling party did not secure some major urban centres, support for the President’s policies remains evident in several islands, including Maafushi, Rasdhoo, Ukulhas, Thoddoo, Kendhoo and Muraidhoo.

He added that the results show that stronger engagement can lead to improved outcomes, urging party members not to be discouraged and to strengthen party structures. MP Shujau also expressed confidence that the party would be able to secure success in the 2028 elections.
