The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced that it will conduct a remittance survey across various areas of the Greater Malé region starting Friday, focusing on money transfers made abroad by expatriate workers in the Maldives.

The central bank stated that the survey targets foreign workers residing in the country and aims to collect data required for compiling balance of payments statistics.

The MMA stated that the survey will gather information on the methods used by expatriate workers to send money overseas, the frequency of these transfers, and the amounts being remitted.

The Authority emphasised that no personal information such as names, passport numbers, or work permit details will be collected as part of the survey.

It further assured that all information obtained through the survey will be kept strictly confidential.
