Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim has met with the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) and major fuel importers to discuss the potential impact of the ongoing situation in the Middle East on the Maldives.

The meeting brought together senior officials from MATI and key oil suppliers, focusing on challenges facing the tourism and energy sectors amid rising global uncertainties.

During the discussions, stakeholders highlighted concerns related to fluctuations in global oil prices and the broader implications for the Maldivian economy, noting the country’s vulnerability to external shocks.

The minister said the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and assess possible responses, adding that preparations are being made to address potential challenges.
