The Elections Commission has stated that 170 complaints have been submitted so far in connection with the recent elections.
President of the Commission, Mohamed Zahid, said the complaints were received by the National Complaints Bureau and are currently under review. He noted that responses will be issued after the necessary legal assessments are completed.
The Commission stated that 36 complaints were filed within the first two hours of polling on election day, between 7:00 am and 9:00 am. These included issues related to campaigning during restricted hours, election-related information, and concerns regarding polling stations. Additional complaints were also lodged over ballot papers and challenges encountered during the voting process.
The Commission has provided multiple avenues for submitting complaints, including designated forms and online submissions, to ensure accessibility for the public.
Zahid added that individuals who are not satisfied with the Commission’s response have the right to submit their cases to the High Court. This option will remain available for 14 days from the date of the Commission’s decision.
The Commission has assured that all complaints are being reviewed and addressed accordingly.
