Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer has stated that the Government is working to minimise the impact of rising global oil prices on the State budget.

He made the remarks during a press briefing by a Special Cabinet Committee established to monitor developments related to the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

Minister Zameer said efforts are ongoing in collaboration with international and multilateral institutions to manage the financial impact of rising prices.

He added that fuel and cooking gas will continue to be supplied without disruption, despite increases in global oil prices linked to the conflict.

The Minister noted that while global prices have risen, no immediate shortages are expected in the Maldives. He explained that although there have been fluctuations in global markets, these changes have not yet been fully reflected in refined fuel prices, and any significant adjustments are likely to become clearer after Monday.

Minister Zameer further stated that the Maldives is closely monitoring international discussions on de-escalation, but no major changes to current price levels are anticipated at this stage.

He also reiterated that the Government is seeking support from various sources to maintain economic stability and ensure the continued supply of fuel and gas.
