The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has revealed that MVR 54 million was disbursed to persons with disabilities in February, providing financial assistance to thousands of beneficiaries nationwide.

According to statistics released by the agency, assistance was provided to 14,993 individuals during the month. With an additional 62 new registrations, the total number of people listed on the disability register has reached 15,342.

The Government is also currently working on compiling comprehensive data under the national register of persons with disabilities, aimed at improving the delivery of assistance and ensuring that support reaches those in need more effectively.

The NSPA, established in 2010, is responsible for administering social protection programmes in the Maldives, including support for persons with disabilities.
