A celebration was held on Saturday night to mark the significant victory secured by the People’s National Congress (PNC) in the Alifu Alifu Thoddoo, Rasdhoo and Ukulhas during the Local Council elections and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections held on 4 April.
The celebration took place in Rasdhoo, bringing together a large crowd from Thoddoo, Rasdhoo and Ukulhas. In attendance were PNC leader, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, Cabinet ministers, and several Members of Parliament.
PNC candidates achieved a historic win in the Thoddoo constituency, overturning an 18-year majority previously held by the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) across all three islands in the constituency.
In Rasdhoo, PNC candidates secured all three seats in the Island Council as well as all three seats in the Women’s Development Committee. Similarly, in Ukulhas, PNC candidates won all three Council seats and all three WDC seats.
In Thoddoo, PNC candidates secured four out of five Council seats, as well as four out of five seats in the Women’s Development Committee.
The celebration event featured a vibrant atmosphere, with fireworks lighting up the night as residents from the three islands gathered to mark the occasion.
