The Maldives and India have decided to establish a Maldives–India business council to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations.
The decision was taken during the Maldives–India business engagement series meeting held at the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade.
The meeting was attended by Minister Mohamed Saeed and High Commissioner of India to the Maldives G. Balasubramanian, along with senior officials from both countries.
According to the ministry, the council is intended to serve as a platform to enhance economic cooperation, facilitate investment, and strengthen business linkages between the Maldives and India.
Discussions at the meeting focused on identifying business opportunities and expanding trade engagement across key sectors.
The Government said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen economic ties and establish a more structured framework for bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
