Quaywall capping concrete works have been completed for Segment 5 of the Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Magu Road Project, according to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company.
MTCC said installation of wastewater and water main pipelines, sewer upgrades, settlement tanks, curbstones, as well as catchpits and cable junctions, are scheduled to be completed within this week.
The company also noted that 220 metres of sheet piling works across Segments 2, 3 and 4 have been completed, with overall progress continuing steadily.
Earlier phases of the project included the expansion of sections of the road to four lanes through land reclamation near the Local Market area and Izzuddin Jetty, which were opened in December 2025. Additional works along the southern corridor, including the stretch towards the Fish Market, were completed and opened to the public in early 2026.
The project, awarded to MTCC in April 2025, forms part of broader efforts to enhance urban infrastructure in Malé. Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Dr Abdulla Muththalib has said the Government aims to complete the northern-side development of Boduthakurufaanu Magu by the end of June.
