More than MVR 31 million has been disbursed to women entrepreneurs under financing schemes as of 15 April 2026, SME Digital has said.
The funding has been issued through a range of initiatives aimed at improving access to finance for women-led businesses, with the “Fashaa Madhadhu” loan scheme serving as the flagship programme.
An additional facility, “Fashaa Madhadhu Leasing”, has also been rolled out, offering smaller loans ranging between MVR 10,000 and MVR 100,000. The financing includes a six-month grace period and a repayment tenure of up to five years, with an interest rate of eight per cent.
Statistics released by SME Digital show that between 17 November 2023 and 15 April 2026, loans exceeding MVR 31 million were issued to 128 women-led businesses. Of this amount, MVR 25 million was disbursed under the Fashaa Madhadhu programme alone, benefiting 97 recipients.
Across the schemes, loan amounts generally range from MVR 25,000 to MVR 250,000, while new businesses under the Fashaa Madhadhu programme can access between MVR 100,000 and MVR 500,000 at an annual interest rate of six per cent.
The schemes are designed to support women entrepreneurs across various sectors, particularly those who face difficulties in securing financing through conventional banking channels due to income-related constraints.
