Twenty individuals, including several former Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development officials, have had their passports seized amid the ongoing investigation into the Binveriya housing scheme by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Among them are former Housing Ministry State Minister Akram Kamaludeen, former Senior Executive Directors Mohamed Arif and Lirgam Waheed, and Ahmed Vishan Naseem, who previously served as Senior Executive Director and currently holds the position of Housing Ministry Director General.

While their names do not appear on the official list of Binveriya scheme beneficiaries, Police revealed during a press conference that individuals questioned in the investigation have provided statements suggesting that land acquisition documents were issued under the previous government.

Additionally, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and his brother, MWSC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed, have also had their passports seized in connection with the case. With the exception of the Chairman, all members of HDC's board have been suspended as the investigation progresses.
