President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, on the sidelines of the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh. 

The meeting underscored the shared commitment between the Maldives and the Saudi Fund for Development to foster economic growth and strengthen ongoing collaborations in infrastructure and other vital sectors.

The leaders focused on advancing current development projects funded by the Saudi Fund in the Maldives, particularly the expansion of Velana International Airport. They also discussed progress on infrastructure and fisheries projects, highlighting the importance of these initiatives in supporting economic growth and national development in the Maldives. Both President Dr Muizzu and Al-Marshad expressed their commitment to ensuring the timely completion of these projects, aiming to deliver meaningful benefits to the Maldivian people.

The discussion concluded with a commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation further, recognising the strategic importance of their partnership. The meeting reflected a strong mutual dedication to achieving shared development goals, enhancing the longstanding relationship between the Maldives and the Saudi Fund for Development.
