The Ilm Institute of Islamic Studies is set to launch the Maldives' first-ever course dedicated to Zakat education, offering a Diploma in Zakat Management Science.

Recently approved by the Maldives Qualification Authority, the one-year diploma programme will be conducted entirely in Dhivehi and delivered by Maldivian experts.

The curriculum encompasses a comprehensive exploration of both theoretical and practical aspects of Zakat, including core principles of Aqeedah and Islamic ethics, foundational knowledge of Zakat science, and Shari'ah rulings related to Zakat al-Mal.

Students will study the Maldivian Zakat system, gain insights into the operations of modern Zakat institutions, and examine the role of Zakat in fostering social and economic development.

The programme also includes practical training in Zakat calculation methodologies and discussions on contemporary Shari'ah issues in Islamic finance and Zakat al-Mal.

The Ilm Institute emphasised that the diploma will be highly beneficial for individuals working in the Islamic economic sector and those aspiring to contribute effectively to Zakat administration in the Maldives.
