The Prosecutor General’s Office has arranged for defendants to review documents protected under Evidence Protection Orders, in line with procedures set by the courts.
PGO said the arrangements allow the defence to examine such documents under conditions determined by the presiding judge, where in-court inspection is not feasible.
The move follows guidance outlined in a Supreme Court ruling, which grants trial judges discretion to permit examination of protected evidence at the Prosecutor General’s Office or another State institution approved by the court, subject to strict procedures and safeguards.
The Office said access to documents will be provided only within the scope specified in the court order, and requests must be submitted through a designated Evidence Protection Order application form available on its website.
Additionally, all arrangements will be carried out in accordance with established legal procedures, ensuring controlled access to sensitive evidence while facilitating the defence process.
