The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has launched a large-scale promotional campaign showcasing Maldivian landscapes on taxis in Berlin, Germany.
The initiative coincides with the ITB Berlin, one of the world’s leading travel trade shows, and aims to position the Maldives as a premier travel destination in the German market.
As part of the campaign, 200 taxis in Berlin are adorned with vibrant imagery and messages highlighting the natural beauty of the Maldives. The promotion runs from February 7 to March 13, 2025, strategically overlapping with major events like the Berlin International Film Festival and ITB Berlin, both of which are expected to attract over 600,000 attendees.
Described as one of the Maldives’ most extensive international marketing efforts, the campaign also includes eye-catching billboards in key locations across Berlin. These advertisements target a diverse audience, including film enthusiasts and international visitors attending the cultural and business events.
In addition to the taxi and billboard promotions, MMPRC is engaging directly with the travel industry and media through seminars, panel discussions, and other activities at ITB Berlin. The organisation is also participating in IMM Germany, a prominent networking event for journalists and media professionals.
While MMPRC had planned to host the highly anticipated Maldivian Night during ITB Berlin, the event has been rescheduled to take place at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai in April 2025.
Germany remains a key market for Maldivian tourism, with 7,313 tourist arrivals recorded so far this year. Last year, Germany was the fourth-largest source market for visitors to the Maldives.
