Finance Minister Moosa Zameer has announced that planned reforms to the Aasandha healthcare system will save the State MVR 500 million.

Speaking during a parliamentary session, the Minister assured that these changes, including bulk procurement measures, will not affect the quality or availability of services provided to the public.

Minister Zameer emphasised that the savings will come from addressing inefficiencies and minimising financial leakage within the system.

The Government has also projected total cost reductions from Aasandha to an estimated savings of MVR 600 million as outlined in the 2025 budget proposal.

The reforms aim to establish Aasandha as a more sustainable model, while maintaining its pivotal role in ensuring access to healthcare for Maldivians. The initiative underscores the Government's commitment to efficient resource utilisation and fiscal responsibility without compromising public services.
