The Ministry of Finance and Planning has reported MVR 237 million reduction in subsidy expenditure compared to the same period last year, mainly due to a decline in fuel subsidy costs linked to lower global oil prices. While subsidy spending decreased, Aasandha expenditure increased by MVR 117 million, with MVR 671 million spent on healthcare services as of April 17, 2025. Overall, the Government collected MVR 11.7 billion in revenue and spent MVR 9.5 billion, resulting in a revenue balance of MVR 2.2 billion.
