Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to building a specialised cancer hospital, fulfilling President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge. Speaking at the Ahaa Forum on Monday night, the Minister said funding efforts are underway, with feasibility studies and a concept plan already completed. He acknowledged public frustration over delays, but emphasised the project is now a top priority. Citing cancer as the cause of 17 per cent of deaths in the Maldives, he also highlighted the importance of raising public awareness alongside improving treatment facilities.
