A four-screen cinema complex is planned for Hulhumalé, as part of the Government’s effort to introduce modern entertainment infrastructure in the Maldives. Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed stated that the country currently lacks a purpose-built cinema and that discussions with foreign investors and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) are underway. The facility is expected to include not only cinemas but also gaming zones and retail spaces, aiming to support both local filmmakers and wider entertainment needs.
