The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a yellow alert for strong winds and rough seas from Haa Alifu to Faafu Atoll, effective from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on July 18. Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected across the country, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph in some areas. The public, particularly sea travellers, are advised to stay cautious as adverse weather may worsen over the weekend.
