The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) will begin construction of N. Fodhdhoo's first harbour next year under an MVR 53.7 million contract.

During today's Parliament session, the Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, Dr Abdulla Muththalib, revealed that the project will feature a 300-metre-wide harbour with 467 metres of water area. The design includes dredging work to depths of 3.5 metres for the basin and 4 metres for the entrance channel.

The Minister confirmed that the original design for a detached harbour has been revised following concerns raised by both the island's residents and their parliamentary representative. He noted that the new finalised design aligns with standard harbour specifications commonly implemented across the Maldives.

He further noted that the design-and-build project has been scheduled for completion within 390 days.
