The Maldives Correctional Service has increased the daily work allowance for inmates for the first time in 25 years, raising the minimum rate from MVR 30 to MVR 50. The new structure includes eight pay grades based on work type and complexity, with Grade 8 inmates earning up to MVR 120 per day. The allowance applies to various tasks in correctional facilities, aimed at supporting rehabilitation and skill development for long-term inmates.
