Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in possession of a large amount of drugs and more than MVR 100,000 in cash.

The suspect, identified as Haroon Jailam, 23, Lh. Hinnavaru, was taken into custody on Wednesday in an operation carried out by the Police and the Drug Enforcement Department (DED) following intelligence reports of his alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

During the operation, officers searched an apartment and two motorcycles linked to the suspect, seizing the cash and drugs. The two motorcycles were impounded as part of the investigation.

Following a remand hearing, the court ordered Haroon to be held in custody for 15 days. Police confirmed that the investigation into the case is ongoing.
