The People's National Congress (PNC) has once again postponed its internal elections to elect constituency presidents and other officials. Originally scheduled for October 19, the election date was first shifted to November 9 and is now set for November 23.
In a statement issued yesterday, the PNC explained that the delay was due to requests from several candidates, as many voters are expected to be away on November 9. This follows President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's announcement declaring November 10 a public holiday in celebration of Republic Day.
The elections will select Constituency Presidents and Vice Presidents, along with Island Presidents for Youth and Women's Activities, as well as Steering Committee members. The voters’ and candidates' lists are scheduled for publication on November 10.
