The Malé City Group of Hospitals has announced that over 1,300 individuals have completed free medical check-ups under the government’s Aasandha health scheme at various hospitals in the Malé area.
Speaking to state media outlet PSM, CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem confirmed that 1,336 check-ups have been conducted so far across IGMH, Dharumavantha Hospital, Hulhumale’ Hospital, and Villimale’ Hospital. He highlighted the program's goal to proactively detect health issues, allowing treatment to begin before conditions worsen.
Haleem credited President Dr Mohamed Muizzu for prioritising the health sector since taking office, with the introduction of free medical check-ups being a key initiative.
Launched in July, this program allows citizens to undergo comprehensive health evaluations twice a year to help identify and manage major health concerns. As part of the Aasandha scheme, individuals aged 35 to 40 are also eligible for cancer screening tests, which can be taken once a year along with other preventive assessments.
