Noonu Landhoo Health Centre in has been upgraded to a 24-hour facility, fulfilling a pledge made by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and bringing major relief to the island’s population of around 1,100 residents. The service was officially inaugurated at a special ceremony attended by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, members of the Landhoo Island Council, and senior health officials.

Speaking at the event, Minister Nazim emphasised that extending health centres to 24-hour operations in densely populated islands is a key part of the Government’s policy to strengthen healthcare access. Previously operating only 16 hours a day, the centre’s limited hours often forced residents to travel to other islands for emergency treatment at night. The new round-the-clock service will allow Landhoo residents to receive medical care at any time, reducing both financial burdens and the need for inter-island travel.
