The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported that three houses have been left in uninhabitable conditions in the wake of the fire at Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development.
More than 50 individuals have been relocated to Social Centre as a precautionary measure. NDMA stated that evacuees might need to remain at the centre for four to six hours while the situation is assessed.
Efforts are underway to bring the fire under control. Once the situation is stabilised, NDMA, with support from the police, will evaluate the structural safety of affected houses to determine whether residents can safely return.
An emergency evacuation centre has been established in Social Centre to provide shelter and psycho-social support to those affected. NDMA has confirmed that no severe health issues have been reported among those relocated so far.
Residents in need of assistance have been urged to contact NDMA through the emergency hotline at 115.
