The National Awards Committee has opened nominations for this year’s National Awards, following the publication of criteria and guidelines in the Government Gazette.
The President’s Office said that nominations will be accepted from today until 2:00 p.m. on 30 April, with applications to be submitted exclusively through the official online portal. Applicants have been advised to ensure that all required documents are submitted along with the application.
A total of 39 primary categories are open for nominations this year. Individuals, companies, associations and other entities may submit nominations either for themselves or on behalf of others, without requiring endorsement from a Government agency. Government institutions and independent bodies are also eligible to apply.
The awards are presented under two distinctions of the National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition, with evaluation of individual nominees based on contributions made after the age of 18.
The National Awards are scheduled to be presented during the official ceremony celebrating National Day. Last year, 13 recipients were conferred National Awards by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during the National Day ceremony.
