The Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises has stated that salaries and allowances for public sector employees for May will be deposited on 28 May and 31 May.

The Ministry issued the clarification following concerns raised over delays in salary payments for employees of some Government institutions.

A Finance Ministry official said payment arrangements had been scheduled based on the operating days of banks during the Eid al-Adha holidays.

The official noted that Government offices have remained closed for the Eid holidays since 22 May and are scheduled to reopen on 31 May. Banks are expected to operate only on Thursday, 28 May, during the holiday period.

The Ministry stated that salaries and allowances will therefore be deposited on 28 May, while banks are open, and on 31 May, when Government offices resume operations after the holidays.

“In line with the Public Finance Act, salaries for each month must be released within the final three official working days of that month. Therefore, salaries and allowances for May will be released on 28 and 31 May,” the official said.

The Ministry added that salary payments are being processed in line with the procedures and schedules set out under State financial regulations.
