Customs seizes cannabis worth MVR 4.4 million from two Indian passengers

Maldives Customs Service has seized cannabis with an estimated street value of MVR 4.4 million from two Indian nationals who arrived in the Maldives.

Customs said the drugs were discovered during an operation carried out at Gan International Airport after officers became suspicious that the two passengers, who arrived on a flight from India last Saturday, were concealing narcotics in their luggage.

Following a search of the passengers' baggage, Customs officers recovered more than 5.5 kilograms of cannabis.

The seized drugs have an estimated street value of MVR 4.4 million.

No further details about the suspects or the ongoing investigation have been released.
