Travellers entering India will be required to submit a self-declaration form as part of precautionary measures introduced in response to concerns over the spread of Ebola.

The requirement was announced by India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) following heightened international monitoring of the disease by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Under the new measures, passengers travelling to India must complete a self-declaration form detailing their health status. Airlines have also been instructed to provide health-related guidance and precautionary information during flights.

National airline Maldivian has notified passengers travelling to India of the requirement, stating that the self-declaration form is available through its website.

The completed form must be submitted at Health and Immigration counters upon arrival in India.

Indian authorities have recently screened several individuals suspected of displaying symptoms associated with Ebola. While all tests conducted so far have returned negative results, those individuals have been placed under quarantine as a precautionary measure.

The WHO continues to closely monitor the Ebola situation, which remains a public health concern in affected regions.

In the Maldives, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has assessed the risk of Ebola entering the country as low. However, the agency has advised the public to avoid non-essential travel to areas experiencing outbreaks and to follow health advisories issued by relevant authorities.
