Parliament committee approves Thoriq and Adam Shareef for ambassadorial posts

The Parliament's Committee on Foreign Relations has approved the nominations of former ministers Thoriq Ibrahim and Adam Shareef Umar for ambassadorial appointments.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu nominated Thoriq as the Maldives' Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Adam Shareef Umar as Ambassador to Qatar.

The Committee endorsed both nominations during a meeting held on Monday.

Thoriq previously served as Minister of Tourism and Environment under the current Administration and has held several ministerial and senior Government positions in past administrations.

Adam Shareef Umar previously served as Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works under the current Administration. He has also served in ministerial roles in previous Governments and currently holds a senior position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Committee's report will now be submitted to Parliament for consideration.
