A new police station building was officially opened in Alifu Alifu Feridhoo, providing the island with upgraded facilities to support police operations and personnel.
The station was inaugurated by Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology Ali Ihusaan and Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed during a ceremony attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikry, senior police officials, Feridhoo Council President, council members, representatives of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and residents of the island.
During the ceremony, Minister Ihusaan hoisted the national flag while Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed raised the police flag. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to MTCC and the Feridhoo Island Council in recognition of their support and cooperation in the project, followed by a tree-planting programme on the station premises.
The Feridhoo Police Station was constructed by MTCC, with groundwork commencing on August 19, 2025. The facility includes both an administrative block and staff accommodation facilities to support police operations on the island.
The opening follows the recent inauguration of the new Maalhos Police Station and forms part of the initiative to establish new police stations, renovate existing facilities and upgrade accommodation blocks across the country. The Government has stated that police services have now been established in all inhabited islands of the Maldives.
