Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Limited, Mohamed Afeef Hussain, has said that the Government’s “Cool School” project will be completed by the end of this month.
Speaking to State media, Afeef said installation works remain incomplete in some islands due to shortages of materials and technical constraints. He noted that delays have also been caused by issues such as unstable voltage in distribution networks, lack of substations in some areas, and insufficient distribution infrastructure.
Afeef further said that additional wiring requirements and the installation of extra meters for air conditioning systems have also contributed to delays in school installations. He said the company is giving special priority to the project and is working to complete the remaining works as soon as possible, including hiring external professionals where necessary.
The Cool School initiative aims to address long-standing challenges faced by students and teachers due to high classroom temperatures during school hours.
The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Education under the guidance of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, with Fenaka responsible for execution across the country. Afeef said all remaining school air-conditioning works are expected to be completed by June.
