The Maldives has strongly condemned recent drone and missile attacks targeting civilian areas and critical infrastructure in Bahrain and Kuwait, describing the incidents as a threat to regional security and a violation of the sovereignty of both countries.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Maldives stands in full solidarity with the governments and people of Bahrain and Kuwait and supports measures taken by the two countries to safeguard their sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
The Government also stressed the need to prevent further escalation of tensions in the region and called for dialogue and diplomatic engagement to restore stability and security. The Maldives urged the international community to intensify efforts aimed at de-escalation and the pursuit of a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following a series of drone and missile attacks targeting civilian and strategic sites in Gulf countries. Reports indicate that attacks on Kuwait affected civilian infrastructure and caused casualties, while diplomatic and other key facilities were also damaged.
The latest developments are taking place against the backdrop of a broader regional conflict that has raised concerns over security, trade and energy supplies. Analysts have warned that continued hostilities could further affect stability in the region and complicate ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions.
