Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) requires significant changes to its operations and management practices to strengthen the company's future growth and sustainability, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Anas has said.

Anas made the remarks while meeting employees at the Kooddoo Fisheries Complex during a visit to MIFCO facilities as part of efforts to engage with staff and assess operations across the company's centres.

He said work is already underway to modernise the company and implement reforms aimed at improving efficiency and expanding business opportunities. He added that increasing the company's financial capacity is a key priority, particularly to create opportunities for improving employee salaries and benefits.

The CEO said MIFCO must focus on generating additional revenue beyond fish exports by diversifying its operations, exploring new markets and increasing value addition in its products. He noted that management is working to identify new business opportunities that would strengthen the company's financial performance.

Anas expressed confidence that the planned reforms would deliver positive results and called on employees to work together to support the company's transformation. He also assured staff that management would address concerns raised by employees during the visits.

Since assuming office, Anas has been visiting MIFCO facilities across the country and meeting employees to assess operational challenges and identify areas for improvement. During his visit to the Kooddoo Fisheries Complex, he also reviewed conditions at the facility and initiated measures aimed at addressing issues identified by staff and management.
