Voting in the North Hithadhoo constituency by-election is set to take place tomorrow, with 4,121 eligible voters expected to cast their ballots.

The Elections Commission said 4,154 ballot papers have been printed for the vote. A total of seven ballot boxes will be used, including two designated for North Hithadhoo constituents residing in Malé and five located in Addu City.

Polling stations in Malé have been established at Dharumavantha School, while voters in Addu City will cast their ballots at Hithadhoo School. The final voters' register has been published in the Government Gazette and is also available on the Elections Commission's website.

The by-election is being contested by candidates from the country's two largest political parties. The ruling People's National Congress (PNC) is represented by former Hulhudhoo-Meedhoo constituency councillor Ahmed Saeed, who will appear as candidate number one on the ballot.

The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has nominated former Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sadiq, who will contest as candidate number two.

Polling will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Speaking to MMTV, Elections Commission Vice President Abdul Rahman Salah Rasheed said all preparations for the by-election have been completed and the commission is fully prepared to conduct the vote.

Campaigning for the by-election will conclude at 6:00 p.m. today.
