The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has made its "Malé Taxi Line" mobile application available on the Google Play Store, expanding access to Android users.
The application was initially launched for Apple iOS users through the App Store. With the latest update, Android users can now also download and use the service.
Developed to make taxi services in the Greater Malé Region more accessible and convenient, the application allows users to book taxis on demand and schedule rides in advance. MTCC said trips can be scheduled up to three hours before the intended departure time.
The company noted that the application offers multiple payment options, including an in-app wallet, bank card payments through a payment gateway and a Scan and Pay service. Users can also view details of completed and upcoming trips through the platform.
To enhance passenger safety and security, the application includes an emergency feature that can be used during urgent situations. The platform also allows passengers to contact and message drivers directly. In addition, users can report items left behind in taxis through the application.
The Malé Taxi Line service was introduced as part of efforts to address transportation challenges in the Greater Malé Region.
MTCC stated that while the mobile application is now available on both iOS and Android devices, members of the public can continue to book taxis through the Malé Taxi website and by calling the hotline number 1655.
