The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has disbursed more than MVR 315,000 to 20 fishing vessels that sold fish to the company last Thursday.

Statistics released by MIFCO show that a total of MVR 315,576 was paid to the 20 vessels. This included MVR 179,536 paid to 17 vessels that supplied skipjack tuna, MVR 30,840 paid to 13 vessels that supplied yellowfin tuna weighing more than 10 kilograms, and MVR 105,200 paid to 13 vessels that supplied yellowfin tuna weighing more than 15 kilograms.

MIFCO continues to purchase fish from several harbours across the Maldives.

Under MIFCO's current pricing structure, skipjack tuna is purchased at MVR 17 per kilogram. Yellowfin tuna weighing between 10 and 15 kilograms is purchased at MVR 20 per kilogram, while yellowfin tuna weighing more than 15 kilograms is purchased at MVR 25 per kilogram.
