Ibrahim Rashad ---
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed condolences to the family of Ibrahim Rashad, a former State official who served the Maldives in several key positions over a public service career spanning more than four decades.
Ibrahim Rashad passed away on Saturday evening following a prolonged illness at the age of 78. In a message shared on X, the President described Rashad as a dedicated and principled public servant who carried out the responsibilities entrusted to him with integrity, diligence and strategic foresight, adding that the country had lost a valuable and experienced statesman.
The President also highlighted Rashad's contributions to improving public administration and service delivery, particularly during a period when Government institutions operated with far fewer technological resources than are available today. He said Rashad earned the trust of both the public and State leaders through his commitment to professionalism and adherence to the principles of public service.
Rashad served the State for more than 45 years and held several senior positions during his career. These included serving as Atoll President, Commissioner of Elections for more than six years, Minister of State, and Principal Collector of Customs.
He is survived by his wife and three daughters.
