The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard conducted 71 medical evacuation operations across the Maldives between 6 and 12 June.
Statistics shared by the MNDF show that Coast Guard squadrons, together with sea ambulance services, assisted dozens of patients requiring urgent medical attention during the one-week period.
Of the total operations carried out, the First Squadron completed 48 medical evacuations, while the Second Squadron conducted three. The Third Squadron responded to 13 cases and the Fourth Squadron carried out six evacuations.
In addition to Coast Guard vessels, Sea Ambulance E954 was also deployed during the week, completing one medical evacuation operation.
The MNDF Coast Guard plays a key role in transporting patients between islands and responding to medical emergencies at sea, particularly in remote communities where access to specialised healthcare services may be limited.
