The Maldives Zakat House has distributed Zakat al-Mal payments to 2,384 individuals registered under the national register of poor and needy persons, with each beneficiary receiving MVR 5,500 this year.

The Zakat House stated that a total of MVR 13.11 million was distributed to eligible recipients registered in the database as of 1 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH. The amount distributed per person is MVR 500 higher than last year, when beneficiaries received MVR 5,000 each.

The Zakat House stated that this year's payment represents the highest per capita Zakat al-Mal distribution made to date.

The institution noted that efforts to strengthen the administration of Zakat and improve public awareness have contributed to increased participation in the system. Authorities have also undertaken initiatives aimed at improving the collection and distribution of Zakat funds in recent years.

Zakat al-Mal is distributed annually to individuals registered as poor and needy, using funds collected through Zakat contributions made across the country.
