Second National Service technical training programme commences

The second technical training programme under the Maldives National Service has commenced, with 75 participants from across the country joining the latest intake.
Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy attended the inauguration ceremony held at the School of Engineering and Logistics of the MNDF Service Corps. The programme is part of an initiative launched by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to develop a generation of self-confident, disciplined, patriotic and professionally skilled youth.
A total of 75 participants from 17 atolls are taking part in the 16-week programme, including 62 male and 13 female trainees. Participants have reported to the School of Engineering and Logistics to begin training.
During the ceremony, instructors took their pledge while participants renewed their commitment to the programme. The pledge was administered by Executive Officer of the School of Engineering and Logistics Captain Mohamed Shareef, while Commanding Officer Major Hussain Shahid addressed the participants.
The programme aims to develop mentally and physically healthy, morally strong and technically skilled young people. Training will be provided in automobile engineering, marine engineering, electrical work, refrigeration, welding, metal fabrication and office management.
Upon completion of the four-month programme, participants will receive a Level 3 certificate approved by the Maldives Qualifications Authority. The courses are conducted by experienced MNDF instructors with extensive technical expertise.
The ceremony was also attended by Commander of the MNDF College of Defence and Security Studies Brigadier General Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan, Principal Director of the Directorate of National Service Colonel Ahmed Shareef, Principal Director of the MNDF Service Corps Colonel Ahmed Shariym, Deputy Commander of the MNDF Northern Area Command Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Bulaq, as well as instructors and participants.
