The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced plans to open retail outlets in highly populated islands across the country as part of efforts to improve access to its products.

Speaking in an interview with State media, MIFCO Chief Operating Officer Hamid Nazeem said the company will prioritise densely populated islands to ensure consumers can purchase MIFCO products at prices similar to those in Malé.

He said the expansion is aimed at making the company's products more accessible while maintaining consistent pricing nationwide.

MIFCO opened its first retail outlet outside Malé in Addu City's Hithadhoo in May, marking the beginning of its nationwide retail expansion.

In addition to expanding locally, the company is also extending its presence overseas. During President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's recent visit to Sri Lanka, MIFCO opened its first international retail outlet, offering authentic Maldivian fish products to the Sri Lankan market.
