The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has issued a White Alert for parts of the northern and central Maldives due to strong winds and rough seas.

The alert is in effect from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and covers the area from Haa Alifu Atoll to Alifu Dhaalu Atoll.

MET said winds in the affected areas are expected to range between 19 and 24 miles per hour, with rough sea conditions.

The weather agency has advised the public, particularly seafarers and those travelling by sea, to exercise caution and monitor the latest weather updates until conditions improve.
