The Government has awarded the Ameenee Magu repair project to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), with construction expected to begin soon.
Awarded by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development on 15 July, the project includes road repairs and modifications to pavement designs around bus stops and other designated areas.
The works are intended to address issues on the western side of Ameenee Magu, where raised asphalt has caused difficulties for road users. The Ministry stated that preparations are currently underway ahead of the start of construction.
Ameenee Magu was previously redeveloped under an MVR 84.4 million project carried out by the previous administration, which upgraded around 1.79 kilometres of the road. Segments 11 and 12 were completed and opened in September 2023, while repair works were also carried out last year on sections near Maafannu Stadium.
