The Parole Board has conducted interviews with inmates at Maafushi Prison who meet the eligibility criteria for parole as part of the process of reviewing their applications.

The Maldives Correctional Service said the board held a series of special meetings at Maafushi Prison to interview eligible inmates who had applied for parole before making decisions on their applications.

In a post shared on “X”, the Correctional Service said members of the Parole Board also visited rehabilitation programmes, training courses, and the vocational site operating at Maafushi Prison for inmates. During the visit, board members observed the programmes and reviewed how the facilities operate.

Correctional Service statistics show that 241 inmates applied for parole in 2025. Of those, 189 met the eligibility criteria, with 86 cases submitted to the Parole Board for consideration. Following the board's review, 27 inmates were granted parole and released back into the community.

The Correctional Service said parole is granted to inmates who demonstrate good conduct during their sentence and complete rehabilitation programmes. It added that the Parole Board is continuing to assess the applications of interviewed inmates before making final decisions on their parole requests.
