President Dr Mohamed Muizzu conveyed the condolences of the Government and the people of the Maldives during a private audience with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, on Monday evening at Lusail Palace following the passing of the former Amir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

During the audience, President Dr Muizzu expressed his deepest sympathies to the Amir, the Royal Family and the people of Qatar over the loss of the former leader.

The audience was attended by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Amir of the State of Qatar; His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Personal Representative of the Amir; His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani; His Excellency Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al Thani; and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

Several sons of the late former Amir and other members of the Qatari Royal Family were also present.

President Dr Muizzu travelled to Qatar on an official visit to pay his respects following the passing of the former Amir.
