A total of 66 individuals have been selected to receive the National Award for Public Service during this year's Independence Day celebrations.
The National Awards Committee said the recipients were selected from individuals who have completed more than 41 years of service to the State and whose records met the eligibility requirements for the award. A total of 130 nominations were received for this year's awards, with the committee assessing eligible candidates before finalising the list of recipients.
The National Award for Public Service recognises individuals who have demonstrated long-standing dedication to the State through distinguished public service. In addition to length of service, nominations are assessed based on criteria including performance, commitment to duty, contributions to institutional development, professional achievements and active involvement in their respective institutions. The committee also considers whether nominees have any pending criminal or civil cases.
Recipients of the award will receive a commemorative shield, a badge of honour and a certificate. Last year, 94 individuals who had completed more than 40 years of public service received the award on Independence Day, while a further 97 public servants with between 35 and 39 years of service were honoured on Republic Day.
