The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has introduced a new online service allowing recipients of land allocated in Gulhifalhu under the Binveriya Scheme to obtain their land handover letters through the Hiyaavehi Portal.

The ministry said the move will replace the previous process of collecting land handover documents by visiting Gulhifalhu in person, making the service more accessible for land recipients.

Through the portal, landowners will not only be able to download their assignment documents but will also be able to view the location of their allocated plots and check the current status of the land.

The ministry said the documents can only be downloaded by individuals who have completed the land registry process following amendments made to the land use plan. For plots currently being used as work sites, a handover certificate will be issued once the ongoing work is completed.

Under the Binveriya Scheme, the process of handing over land to recipients began in September last year.

A total of 3,520 plots across seven different sizes will be allocated in Gulhifalhu, with plot sizes ranging from 1,250 square feet to 3,650 square feet.

The Gulhifalhu land use plan has been revised three times and includes significant allocations for residential areas, social housing, and essential services. The plan also includes designated areas for education, healthcare, industrial activities, parks and sports facilities to support future development of the island.
